Hello, I’m Laurence, the photographer/videographer behind Spinning Rock Shots. I’m based in Gloucestershire, England, and spend most of my time out in the field photographing wildlife and the natural world, travelling across the UK wherever the story takes me.

From an early age I’ve been drawn to wildlife, and that curiosity still drives everything I do. I’m particularly interested in behaviour, quiet moments, and the small details that often go unnoticed. My work leans towards a natural history and documentary style, focusing on real moments and genuine interactions.

Alongside photography, I’m currently studying an MA in Wildlife Filmmaking at the University of the West of England, working in partnership with the BBC Natural History Unit. This has pushed me to think more about storytelling and the creative side of production. I’ve always had a creative background through music and drama, and I’m now exploring how that can shape the way natural history stories are told.

As part of my course, I’m also working on my own wildlife film, developing longer-form, more narrative-driven work.

I also use drone photography and cinematography to capture landscapes and habitats from a wider perspective, helping to place wildlife within the environments they depend on.

For me, it’s always been about observation and patience, but also about finding new ways to tell those stories. Whether I’m working on a personal project or collaborating with others, I try to keep things honest, simple, and true to the moment.

If you’ve got a project or idea in mind, feel free to get in touch. I’m always up for a chat.
