The Faraway Tree is the ‘working title’ to a project I will be writing, filming and directing later this year.
The idea is to uncover the quiet stories unfolding in the natural world around us. At its centre stands an ancient oak tree, a constant presence in the landscape, watching over the life that moves through its branches, roots, and the space beyond. Through this film, I will explore the hidden rhythms of a single place—following the gentle passing of a day, and revealing the intricate relationships that exist just out of sight.
I’ve always been drawn to the idea that nature isn’t something distant, but something we live alongside. With this project, I wanted to capture that feeling - combining detailed, intimate wildlife filmmaking with a warm, storybook tone.
By doing so, I hope to create a sense of wonder and familiarity, encouraging people to slow down and notice the life that surrounds them. The Faraway Tree is, at its heart, a quiet celebration of the everyday magic within the British landscape.
